I signed up for Jodi's workshop on transformational arcs because of specific comments from two acquiring editors. Jodi took the time to understand my situation, the editorial feedback, and my novella, including what I could (and should) realistically accomplish in that length piece. I didn't expect to receive such detailed one-on-one feedback.

Description of Workshop:

NOTE: This workshop is for FIRST TIME writers. If you're looking for how to professionally format, please visit our advance education site at

Getting your first book in print and available online for readers is often one of the most intimidating parts of becoming an author.

We’re here to make it easy.

This workshop is specifically designed to show the first time writer the simplest steps for what to do once the book is polished editorially and ready to be released in print and e-book.

In this course, you’ll receive classroom instruction plus PDF downloads to keep for a refresher later on, which will include step-by-step guides on how to load your book files into places like Kindle and Create Space. Once your book files are loaded with all the details in place and approved to be released, you’ll be able to order one or more print books as you need them and your books can be distributed everywhere Amazon is in the world -- or not, if you want them only for your personal use (ordering copies just for you).

You’ll also receive guidance on how to load your e-book to Amazon and an aggregate e-book publisher (we'll explain it all), which will provide additional e-book distribution with minimal effort. You don’t have to be a technical whiz to do these steps.

NOTE: Your pages and book cover need to be formatted professionally - this is not a workshop on how to format page or how to create a cover.  We do have an online video program for the more experienced writer who wishes to tackle formatting a book (, but it’s extremely involved for a new writer.  For that reason, we have arranged for a special book cover and format package price from a reputable company just for this workshop.  Those of you who have completed the My Story To Tell: Chapters workshop will have received that information at the end.  Don't worry if you were not in that workshop. We will also send the same resource information to everyone who registers for this one.

You DO NOT have to use our recommendations if you have someone who can format book pages and create a book cover for you but we won’t be able to troubleshoot loading issues during the workshop, which are related to format and cover design. New York Times Bestseller Dianna Love will be sitting in on this workshop and she does not format her pages or create her covers. She's the first one to recommend you have covers and formatting professionally done.

Once your book files are ready to load, you’ll be loading them one step at a time and discovering the joy of finally having your story available for others.

What is required to be prepared for this class?

Please have a completed story, which has been formatted for e-book (only if you are loading one) and for Create Space print books. Please have a professional cover that is a minimum of 800 pixels on one side and 300 dpi. Bring a brief blurb about your book (try to stay under 200 words) and a brief bio on yourself.

Will there be homework and feedback?

Additional Information:

This is going to be a lot of fun. I get very excited about someone's first book. We'll be sending information out to everyone who registers, which will include examples of blurbs and bios as well as formatting and cover resources. I hope you enjoy the program. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.
