Description of Workshop:

You know you should get a developmental editor, but your budget doesn't stretch that far.

Or you're trying to sign an agent. Agents and editors do not content edit your story. They don't have the time. So if you're publishing your own books or submitting to New York, your book has to be solid.

What are they looking for? Powerful character arcs, strong story lines, fast pacing, tight plot and universal theme, Do you wish there was a do-it-yourself alternative guaranteed to fix your manuscript and some way to know you're on the right track?

Here's the answer to your question: Join professional content editor Jodi Henley in DIY First Draft Edits to fix your story quickly and easily, so you can spend more time writing and less time stressing.

Note: The classroom and lecture halls for this workshop will remain open an additional 20 days after the workshop ends. You'll have plenty of time to go back to review and/or download material.

What is required to be prepared for this class?

Please have a partially or fully complete manuscript in progress. While First Draft Editing can be enjoyed in theory, it is of most use to people able to fully utilize it immediately.

Will there be homework and feedback?

yes

Additional Information:

Please be clear on the type of editing we'll be discussing in this workshop:

While this workshop covers many issues, it does not cover changing genre during the revision process, specific structural armatures, or experimental lit. It is also not a copy edit workshop. This workshop deals with tightening up a story that will engage readers and bring them back for more.
